| USAT Rules: Cycling Conduct: Basic Bike Safety. |
|
This week's rule is the last in the series on Bicycle Specifications. The rule requires that participants are responsible for ensuring that their bicycles are safe and in working order. It is a good reminder that one should make a "pre-flight" inspection of the bicycle before each event and have it repaired if necessary. Mechanical failure at an event is always frustration, but can be dangerous as well. If you are in doubt about Here's the rule: 5.11k. All aspects of the bicycle must be safe to the user and to other participants in the event. Minimum safety standards include, but are not limited to, properly glued and sealed tires, tight headset and handlebars, and true wheels. Want to learn more about a specific rule?
